BrainPlayer
For video playback, MOD Machine originally used Quicktime. Quicktime, as used by the popular Apple iTunes software, does not always provide satisfactory video performance, especially on slower Windows computers, so we later added an alternate player for when Quicktime will not work well on the user’s computer or is not installed. Our original alternate player had great playback performance, but the features, integration and user experience have never been optimal.
So, we have been working for close to a year on a player component called “BrainPlayer,” with the goal of creating the finest media player in the world, and we believe we have succeeded. In performance, quality, compatibility and reliability, it clearly beats Microsoft Windows Media Player, Apple’s Quicktime Player, or Adobe Media Player.
BrainPlayer feature highlights:
- best playback performance of any player we’ve ever seen
- integrated chapter menu
- rewind/fast forward
- subtitles/closed captioning
- user-resizable
- slow motion/fast motion without changing pitch
- looping with visual indicator
- window position/fullscreen status consistency
- lightning-fast responsiveness on fullscreen toggle
- fullscreen transport appear/auto-hide on mouse movement
- cursor hide in fullscreen mode
- beautiful and customizable transport colors and buttons
- current time/total time display
Needless to say, being the video perfectionists we are, we’re very excited about the BrainPlayer, since it has the best playback performance we’ve ever seen, playing beautiful fullscreen HD perfectly, even on an old, slow computer that cannot play a movie from iTunes, or cannot play video from Netflix, Hulu, or other streaming sites. And the slo-mo playback without changing pitch, with the looping option, will be an awesome feature for musicians wanting to study or transcribe one section of music, or martial artists perfecting a move.
BrainPlayer is now live in all catalogs as the “alternate player,” and though we are continuing to tweak and fine-tune, we are getting great feedback from end users.
