If you have existing DVDs you'd like to offer through MOD Machine:

Content for DVD-like products

If you have an existing DVD for delivery through MOD Machine, you can either:

  1. Send us your replicated DVD, or
  2. Send us the original assets (menu graphics and the original movies).

Working from the replicated DVD will look great, our encoding experts will ensure the video quality is pristine, and in many cases will look better than the original DVD.

However, you will see a little sharper visual quality if we can work from a high quality movie exported directly from your editing software. (Here is the export procedure we recommend from Final Cut Pro.)

After exporting each chapter of your DVD as a separate movie, encode each movie to an MP4 or Quicktime movie file adhering to the general guidelines below (if you are on a Mac, we recommend DV Kitchen, the best encoding application on the market).

The frame size is up to you. You will never have to worry about NTSC/PAL, any format works for any customer. You can also deliver HD in any size.

Chapters:

Another important consideration for DVD-like products is creating a chapter menu that allows users to select chapters or sections of the product individually.

Naming conventions:

We will help you set up a system to assign each product a MOD Machine SKU, which will be used to identify the files for that product.

Movie files must be named sequentially so they will play in the correct order. The format is as follows:

  • productSKU_1.mov
  • productSKU_2.mov
  • productSKU_3.mov etc
  • Here is an example of movie file names for a product with the SKU dvc_awesomevideo1:

  • dvc_awesomevideo1_1.mov
  • dvc_awesomevideo1_2.mov
  • dvc_awesomevideo1_3.mov etc

    Testimonials

I tested the Instant Access service and it is truly amazing! Especially for people who live in places where ordering physical learning materials is too costly and complicated.

    Great service, well done!
